Operation: Whale Shark

It is well known that sharks are disappearing from the oceans: their number has been reduces a 90% in the last 50 years because over fishing. Fortunately there are three species that are protected worldwide.

Whale SharkThe whale shark is the biggest shark and it is also one of these protected species and if have seen one of this you may know that dive with them is the ultimate experience for a diver.

It is known that they migrate through the waters of Costa Rica but until now there were no programs to protect them and study them at the same time.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to create a whale shark sightings and identification database in order to protect them and study them.

This is what we need:
•    Photographs of left wing marks.
•    Tour, date and depth of the sighting.
•    Pictures of the entire shark.
•    Location (GPS) and temperature

If it is not possible to collect all the data: general location, hour, date and depth will be enough.

Talk to your local dive master or call 236-0884 for more information.

Thank You!
